Sure, your dive buddy helps make sure you're ready to go and can help you in an emergency, but the really great thing about a dive buddy is that they are there to enjoy the dive with you. They can teach you things you haven't learned yet, help you identify fish and creatures you've never seen before, and take your picture at an exotic location.
